We are growing! For the last 4 years we have been selling our pasture raised poultry meat at local Minnesota farmers markets under the custom exemption PL-90-492, by on the farm processing. This limited the number of birds we could raise, process and only direct to consumer sales. Our partnership with new USDA processor last year gave us the ability to slowly expand our current chicken and Thanksgiving turkey production.

After taking in some trial ducks, they decided this year to also start processing ducks and geese. It’s a small learning curve for them but I am excited about growing our partnership. Four years ago we started the season with only 30 ducks. This year, 2024, we started the season with 150 ducks expecting to finish out this season with 680 ducks! I am already planning the 2025 season and hope to double these numbers and reduce costs with operation optimizations this year.

This is an exciting opportunity for our farm to expand on something we are so passionate about.

Our goals as we grow:

Keep our flocks small, even if there are many, to ensure high quality meat.

Rotate flocks purposefully so that the land can fully rest and regenerate.

Continue to work and support local and regional suppliers.

*Currently our ducks are hatched and processed within a 2 hour radius of our farm.
